About

Update: 12/22/2008

It’s been a little over 3 years since the original “About” verbiage was written below.  Naturally, most of that is still accurate.  The only real change is that The Author ended up working at a large, local software company for 10 years before leaving it in July of 2007.

He then joined another software company, headquartered out of San Jose but himself in the Seattle regional office.  Sadly, he is not the Assistant Regional Manager nor is he the Assistant to the Regional Manager.  Still, it provides him with rewarding work in an area of software largely not covered by his previous employer (naturally, that isn’t ENTIRELY true since his previous employer pretty much has their fingers is just about every aspect of the software business).

BTW, some people like to blog about their work.  This is a personal blog, and work is part of my personal life, so I may occasionally blog about it.  However, you will likely not find any strongly evangelistic (or critical) blog posts here on either my current or former employer.  If I want to blog about the goings on at Adobe or Microsoft, I will blog about that officially on a work blog (well, maybe not the Microsoft part).

Besides work, not much else has changed.  I am still the proud father of a percocious, whip-smart, strong-willed, beautiful girl and a curious, passionate boy and husband to the same woman who bore those children and even living in the same house.  Not even my car has changed.

The Author is most recently a father of a beautiful little girl. Prior to that, he enjoyed watching his son grow up and playing with him as he turned 3 after 2 then 1. Before then, he married a wonderful woman in July of 2000 in a lovely ceremony on Orcas Island on what was just about literally the only day during the entire month to rain.

He has been working at a local software company for the better part of 9 years now having done things that run the gamut between relational database development to operating systems development. He has been living in Seattle for the last 10 years. Prior to moving to Seattle, The Author called Chicago and its surrounding areas home for much of the previous 25 years. He was College educated in the city, though most recently in Evanston for a brief stint before dropping out of Graduate School. Prior to that he was schooled – both educationally and in life – in the Western Suburbs of Chicago living what could be said to be a relatively “normal” suburban life.

The Author is the first son (numbah one son!) of 1st Generation Korean immigrants having himself emigrated from South Korea when he was but 11 months old.
